Q: What was your design goal with your space?
A: We wanted more storage space in our kitchen that could be used exclusively for cookbooks and recipe boxes. There was limited wall space available and traditional shelving units with fixed anchor points would not work given the location of the wall studs. We needed a solution that could both hold the weight and distribute that weight across the available wall space. This area would also become a focal point for the kitchen, so we didn't want to use metal or plastic shelving that would be an eyesore.
Q: How did you decide on wood type?
A: We wanted a wood type that could be easily stained to compliment the other wood features in the area. We chose oak because of the ease of staining and worked with Ben to help us find a complimentary stain.
Q: Why did you choose us?
A: Shelf Expression was highly recommended to us by another customer. We looked at their available solutions and determined that their bracket system and quality of craftsmanship would be the best option.
Q: Was the installation process easier than you thought? Harder than you thought? Or as expected?
A: Installation of the support rail was easy to accomplish. The hardest part was getting the shelves onto the rail because they are heavier than we expected them to be. That part of the process was definitely a two person job.
Q: How was your overall experience working with us?
A: We had an excellent experience working with Ben and Shelf Expression. He was very communicative and willing to work with us and our specifications. We will definitely contact Shelf Expression again when we are remodeling different rooms in our house.
Q: Lastly, and most importantly, what ‘joy’ are you displaying?
A: Cooking and baking are passions of mine and I am proud to display a variety of cookbooks and vintage recipes that were passed down from my grandmothers.
