Every shelf is made to order between 12" and 72" long and 6" to 12" deep. A few things worth knowing about sizing for this style:
These read best at larger sizes. A 12" or 18" piece on a large wall loses the organic character that makes the style work. In most rooms, 30" or longer is where a live edge shelf starts to have the presence it deserves. A single shelf at 36" to 48" is the most common starting point.
6" to 8" deep works well for a display shelf: a few objects, a plant, a candle. This depth keeps the profile slim and lets the natural slab contour be the focus.
10" deep is the right call for a shelf that needs to hold real items: books, bottles, kitchen supplies, or anything with actual weight. It's also the most practical depth for a bar wall where bottles need a stable surface.
12" deep is the move for heavy use or a kitchen application where maximum surface area matters. At this depth, the Hovr bracket at 150 pounds per stud is doing real work.
Because each slab is unique, the exact width of the natural contour varies. Order the closest standard size and put your exact dimensions in the order notes on the cart page. For something specific or a longer custom piece, reach out directly.
